My Daily List

I’m taking a cue from my friend and our fabulous wedding photographer, Nancy Ray, today.

I am a creature of habit. I openly admit it, and my husband will attest to this as well.  I even order the same thing when we go to the same restaurants.  I could eat the same Moe’s burrito with the same toppings a few times a week and be totally happy.  But there are certain days when I feel like “Yes, this is it. These are the elements of my greatest day.”

  1. Starting and ending my day in prayer
  2. A good cup of coffee in one of our bright, cheery Fiesta mugs
  3. Going on a run with Doug and Toby
  4. Cooking dinner and spending quality time together
  5. Keeping a tidy home and making the bed every morning

There are a few things that I would like to add to my daily list.  Reading scripture consistently, for sure.  I am not very good at doing this daily, although I know that my outlook on everything would be different if I did.  That needs to change.

I also would like to focus on being more consistent about waking up (and staying up) earlier.  Doug wakes me up every morning to have breakfast with him, and I really do love starting the day together, even though my grumbles might suggest otherwise. :)    I hand him his lunch and coffee and kiss him goodbye.  Some days, I start to work on picking up the house, doing laundry, generally piddling.  But most days I climb back in bed for another hour.  I want to commit to not doing that regularly.  Toby would love to go on an early morning walk, and I would love to spend a few extra minutes with him before work.  That always makes my day better.

So here’s to practicing those things and making them part of my daily list.
