Toby loves peanut butter. I know most dogs do, but he really thinks it’s the best. And since the milkbone treats give him the WORST breath, I thought I would try my hand at homemade treats!
You’ll need:
1/4 cup all-natural unsalted peanut butter
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 cup water
2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup oatmeal
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Combine peanut butter, oil, and water in a large bowl or in the bowl of your stand mixer. Mix in the flour and oatmeal until just combined.
- Roll dough out to 1/4 inch thickness and cut out cookies with a cookie cutter.
- Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 30 to 35 minutes or until the edges begin to brown. Let cool.
These turned out great! They were pretty chewy, not crunchy & crumbly like typical dog treats. Toby loved them! They only kept for about a week, but by then there weren’t many left. We did send a few home with our friends for their pup Drake. I will keep this recipe handy for sure!
